Why be cooped up inside with cabin fever when you could be outside enjoying the brisk air and winter wonderland scenery after a fresh snowfall?  Cross-country, or Nordic, skiing is a unique way of enjoying beautiful winter landscapes and also getting the benefit of one of the best forms of aerobic exercise.  With just a few basic lessons, you can be on your way to discovering the outdoor world of snow-covered woods and trails this Winter!

We offer evening lessons at various local parks and usually begin each weekend day trip with a brief class as well.  Join us on a journey through frosted evergreens and along frozen creeks as we ski both groomed and ungroomed trails in the Laurel Highlands, Forbes State Forest, and local parks.  For more experienced skiers, we organize longer and more challenging weekend trips to Ohio, West Virginia, and the Erie Snowbelt, as well as the opportunity to teach newer participants some skills.

Outside Adventures has high quality Nordic ski gear available for use on our events.  Three performance grades of equipment are available: stable / beginner, traditional / performance, and high performance.  Try out all three as your experience and confidence levels increase.

We also offer various special events during the winter to shake off those wintertime blues.  Join us on walking tours of Old Bedford Village, New York City, and of course downtown Pittsburgh.  Come sledding with us and build snow castles or ski if you prefer.  Just because it's wintertime, it doesn't mean that you need to stay indoors.  Get active and explore the wintry world outside with us!
